NTC Club Rules

1          Disclaimer Notice   

Please note that it is a condition of admission to Navan Tennis Club that Navan Tennis Club will not be responsible for any incident that may occur to any person or persons involving personal or other injury or injuries and that all persons entering upon Navan Tennis Club lands and premises do so entirely at their own risk  

Navan Tennis Club will not accept liability for the loss of or damage to any property or persons using Navan Tennis lands and premises owned by Navan Tennis Club.     

2          Complaints Procedure

If you have a complaint to make about any aspect of Navan Tennis Club please put your complaint in writing to The Secretary and it will be placed on the agenda of the next executive committee meeting.   There is no point in making a verbal complaint to individual members (be they Executive or otherwise), as most of the time, members are busy with their own lives or are just up for a relaxing game of tennis.  

3          Playing Times     (Monday to Friday)

Juniors

Each week day up to 6.30pm

Each weekday 6.30pm to 8.00pm (summer time only) and only when courts are available   -  Seniors have precedence  - Juniors must vacate courts to allow Seniors to play.  

Seniors

Every day & evening (No Seniors precedence applies before 6.30pm , Court Waiting Procedure to apply for Juniors and Seniors before 6.30pm ) 

Playing Times           (Saturday & Sunday) 

Juniors

Saturday & Sunday up to 6.30pm.  Seniors have precedence.  Juniors must vacate court to allow Seniors to play.  

Saturday & Sunday 6.30pm to 8.00pm , (summer time only) and only when courts are available.  Seniors have precedence.  Juniors must vacate court to allow Seniors to play.      

Seniors

All day & evening Saturday & Sunday (Seniors precedence applies all Saturday and Sunday Court Waiting Procedure to apply for Seniors who wish to avail of Seniors occupied courts.    

Visitors 

Members may invite up to 3 visiting players at any one time to play on one court with the member (maximum 3 hours of play).

The member is obliged to collect €5.00 green fees for each visiting non-member and submit green fees to the Treasurer, or other member of the Executive Committee within 7 days.

Members have precedence of court time when visiting non-members are occupying courts. 

Visiting non-members must vacate court within 30 minutes if requested by members who wish to play.    

Note:-  

Precedence is given for court times to all Club & Competition Tournaments, Social Tennis Events, Ladder Matches, Coaching Programmes, and Team Training Sessions.  Visiting club competitors in competition games are honourary one day members of Navan Tennis Club. 

   
4              Dress Code   

Proper tennis sports attire to be worn at all times on court (Predominantly white garments are recommended)  

Proper tennis footwear to be worn at all times on court.      

5                Court Waiting Procedures   

Navan Tennis Club operates a FAIR PLAY policy in respect of Court Waiting Procedures.  

Each Member is asked to fully co-operate to ensure fair play to your fellow members. 

When all courts are occupied, check when you arrive and ascertain which court was occupiedfirst. 
Once you have established this, the maximum waiting time must not exceed 30 minutes and the
players on that court must give way for your game to commence

After 30 Minutes, ask the players on that court to give way for your game to commence. 
Allow the exiting players 5 minutes to clear the court. 
If you are playing singles, you should invite those waiting to double up.  

If they decline then youshould still leave the court 30 minutes after waiting players have arrived to play. 
When members are playing under floodlights, play is valid for one hour. Do not insert more than 
1 hour of flood light meter tokens at a time.  
We would ask all members to display courtesy, good club spirit and facilitate all our new or 
infrequent playing members who may not be fully aware of court waiting procedures. 

Please make them welcome and demonstrate our club ethos by your example.     

6             General Rules   

Navan Tennis Club owns it’s own grounds, equipment, and infrastructure and being a full member of Navan Tennis Club means that you are an equal owner of the club and all it’s assets and facilities.  

Each and every member/owner has a responsibility towards the best interests of Navan Tennis Club to ensure its long term success and survival.  Please treat the club as you would your own property and take responsibility to ensure its continued success.    

Do not leave it to others to raise issues which adversely affect the club, likewise do not leave it to others to raise issues which could improve or enhance the club and its reputation.     
Do not bring Navan Tennis Club into disrepute.  

Play the game in good faith and in good spirit  

Racket abuse and foul language are not acceptable behaviour.  

Do not litter the clubhouse or club grounds.   If there is litter on the courts or grounds please pick it up and dispose in bins provided.  Clean up after yourself after using club facilities – do not leave it to others to clean up your mess.   

All members are obliged to identify themselves and confirm their membership of the club if asked to do so by any other member.  This is your club after all!     

7        Membership Policy


Navan Tennis Club is a MEMBERS ONLY Club.  
The annual membership subscription fees shall be payable in advance on the 1st May of each year.     

Former members or playing visitors who have not paid membership subscription fees may not be permitted to enter in club competitions or represent the club in Competition Teams and may be disqualified from any competitions which they have been entered into in good faith by competition organisers.       

Visitors are only permitted to play when accompanied by a member and abides by the rules applicable to visitors as follows:-   Members may invite up to 3 visiting players at any one time to play on one court with the member.  (maximum 3 hours of play). The member is obliged to collect €5.00 green fees for each visiting non-member and submit green fees to the Treasurer, or other member of the Executive Committee within 7 days of play.

Visiting non-members must vacate court within 30 minutes if requested by members who wish to play.  Every member has a responsibility to prevent unauthorised trespass or tennis court use by non-members.  The Club recommends that members always be polite, courteous and welcoming to non-members on club grounds – they could be new members in the making!!   

If a member is unsure or suspects that persons on club grounds are not members, you should ask if they are indeed members of the club.  If the persons are members, they should volunteer their names and this can be confirmed on the membership list in the club house or with the subscriptions secretary.   

If the persons are not members, you should advise the persons that it is a “Members Only” club, offer them a Membership Application Form from the club, provide contact details for the Subscriptions Secretary and request that they return on the next two Tuesday Social Nights as an authorised Tuesday Social Night Visitor to sample our club atmosphere and social tennis.   

Advise the non-members that it is club policy that un-accompanied non-members are not permitted to play on club property.   

If you wish to play with them, you may invite them to play as YOUR visitor, but remember to collect the appropriate green fees.   

If you do not wish to play with them or them with you, you should politely advise them that they are not authorised to continue playing or to be on club grounds.   

Do not engage in any confrontational actions, do not ask or demand that they vacate the premises.   

Report any unauthorised trespass to a member of the Executive Committee.   

The Executive Committee reserves the right of admission to the club’s grounds and/or premises.
